G Data Antivirus Review
As far as features go, G Data delivers on many of the features you’d expect from a full suite. G Data’s simple, straightforward interface doesn’t muddle the experience by hiding express vpn for torrenting security status. As many other programs, this program displays the green tick or caption to indicate the security status.
The program is also very effective in blocking new malware and detecting it. The ‘virus monitoring’ service that channels your traffic through G Data cloud service not just updates the virus definition files but also detects malware based on its behavior. In our tests, G Data detected and blocked all the unknown malware we threw at it, with only one false positive.
G Data performed even better in the AV Comparatives offline detection test than Bitdefender, its close relative. This is likely due to the program’s own DeepRay engine that detects malware that is disguised by analysing the actions that the malware attempts to carry out. In addition, it looks for patterns that would suggest malicious intent, like altering the settings of other software or observing keystrokes.
However, the program does fall short in some areas that we believe are essential for an antivirus software suite. The program does not offer a firewall, VPN, or parental controls. If you’re interested in these features then you’ll need G Data’s more expensive Internet Security package. This is a significant problem, particularly when top-of-the line competitors such as Norton 360 and Bitdefender offer them for a similar price or less.
