That’s a wrap for Season 1 of 24/604 and we would like to thank everyone for their support. In this episode hosts and viewers let us know what their favorite segments were so that we could highlight the Best of the Best.

We start with a memorable journey on the North Shore trails as Fit and Fun Host Stephanie Florian toured with Endless Biking, while in town, Food and Drink Host Momona Komagata was joined by Host Angelina Rai for a delicious and artistic night out at Raw Canvas. Nightlife Host Christina Meng then joined in on the cheers and chants, taking in the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Experience, while L-Street Host Levi Hildebrand hung out with the passionate Vancouver Canucks fans to find out their favorite sports moments. It was back up to the mountains, though this time Whistler, where we tested the Bob Sled track at the Whistler Sliding Centre, before embarking on a restaurant crawl with the folks at Tangoo, and ending our night getting down with the performers at Hip Hop Karaoke at Fortune Sound Club.

It’s been an amazing journey discovering the gems of our city, and we look forward to showcasing more of them for you soon.

Screenwriting-Before you start your script

Posted on: January 11th, 2012 by admin No Comments

Here are some great tips to help you before you actually start your script.. Via Jeanne Bowerman:

1. Do a vomit writing sprint of the idea to try to flush it out a bit and brainstorm the “what if?” question at every turn.
2. Logline: That’s key. Make sure it shows all the conflict possible in the story.
3. Character bios and backstory. A lot of this never makes it to the script, but it helps me get to know the characters I’m going to spend many months with… if not years. Identifying their wound is key.
4. Beat sheet: A good example is one by Michael Hauge and Chris Volger’s The Hero’s 2 Journeys (DVD). Love their approach on matching plot points to character development.
5. Fill in the beats with scenes (or sequences of scenes) to make a full outline.
6. Write a synopsis. This helps me see the holes in the story.
7. Adjust the beat sheet if need be.
8. Import the outline into Final Draft with sluglines. That way your never looking at a white page :)

“The Alchemist” By Paulo Coelho

“When each day is the same as the next, it’s because people fail to recognize the good things that happen in their lives every day that the sun rises.”

“When you want something with all your heart, that’s when you are closest to the Soul of the World. It’s always a positive force.”

“I don’t live in either my past or my future. I’m interested only in the present. If you can concentrate always on the present, you’ll be a happy man. Life will be a party for you, a grand festival, because life is the moment we’re living now.”

“When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.”

“The soul of the world is nourished by people’s happiness. And also by unhappiness, envy, and jealousy. To realize one’s destiny is a person’s only obligation. All things are one.”

“Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second’s encounter with God and with eternity.”

Michael Jordan Success Quote

“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”

Tips On Freewriting

Posted on: May 14th, 2011 by admin 1 Comment

If your struggling with your writing and still see a blank document on your computer screen or a very clean piece of paper here’s a couple of tips that have helped me.

-Let go of the expectation of creating something “groundbreaking” and “Amazing” just write and keep going. It is all about getting words out and getting in the motion of writing.. it’s suppose to be fun and stress relieving so keep it like that

-Start Freewriting with sentences like “I remember when”… then go off on writing about your memories and then from there you can go somewhere else and so on

Happy writing!
